UNIFORM AND APPEARANCE
Damla College is a UNIFORMED School.
Damla College regards grooming and uniform as basic matters of self-respect and respect for the school community. Students are expected to wear the appropriate school uniform at all times. Students who continue to wear incorrect uniforms will be suspended from school until the matter is rectified.
Any Students who arrive at School in non-appropriate clothes or out of uniform will immidiately sent to detentation and their parents wiil be phoned to collect them from School.
SCHOOL UNIFORM:
Girls:
Jacket: Damla College Jacket (to be worn in winter)
Skirt: Damla College skirt. (skirt length: minimum mid-calf, maximum ankle length)
Shirt: white cotton (not tight fitting or fashion shirt)
Jumper: Damla College Jumper
Shoes: traditional buckle or tie-up black school shoes (leather - capable of being polished; maximum 3cm high heels)
Socks: white, knee high
Tie: Damla College tie (burgundy color)
Hat: Damla College hat
Sports gear: Damla College track suit, Damla College white sports shirt, white sports shoes and white socks.
Boys:
Jacket: Damla College Jacket (to be worn in winter)
Trousers: school trousers (dark grey)
Shirt: Damla College school shirt (not tight fitting or fashion shirt) light blue in colour
Jumper: Damla College Jumper
Shoes: traditional black school shoes. (leather - capable of being polished)
Socks: white
Tie: black
Hat: Damla College hat
Sports gear: Damla College track suit or Damla College long shorts with Damla College white sports shirt, white sports shoes and white socks.
Sport shoes are not permitted to be worn on non-sports days. They are to be worn with the sports uniform during PE lessons or at official lunch time activities.
The following uniform rules apply to all students:
Students are expected to put their names on all items of clothing and equipment;
- Uniforms should always be clean and worn neat and tidily;
- Students are not to fold the cuffs of shirts over their jumpers;
- Students who fail to keep their uniform as required (e.g. drawing, modifying, etc.) will be asked to purchase a new uniform;
- Parents are primarily responsible for their children's uniform and are expected to check that it is being worn correctly, before their child leaves home for school. Students who are unable to wear the correct uniform at any time must bring an explanatory note from their parent/guardian to the School office immidiately upon arrival at school. This note should explain the reason for student not being able to wear the appropriate uniform. Disciplinary action will be taken for students who are not in correct uniform and dont have a note of explanation;
- Failure to comply with uniform policy may result in:
- A phone call to parents asking them to collect their children from school;
- Ties must be worn at all times on school grounds and done up tightly. If a student’s tie is missing, a lunch time detention will be issued. If the student comes to school without rectifying the matter, he/she will be required to purchase a new tie from the school office (regardless of possession of a tie at home already).
- Clothing, such as singlets, T-shirts, skivvies that are sometimes worn under the school shirts must be white;
- No hooded tops are allowed;
- In cold weathers, black, white or navy scarves may be worn;
- No beanies are allowed.
Special requirements for Secondary Girls:
- Hair colour should be no other than the natural colour of the student. Extreme colouring, including partial and ‘streak’ colouring are not permitted;
- Hair may be plaited or French-braided however, no feed-in cornrows, lacing, extensions, wraps or dreadlocks are allowed. Attention seeking hairstyles are not permitted. If hair is long enough to touch the shoulders, it must be tied back with a black, navy blue or white coloured item, such as ribbon, scrunchie or plait;
- Hair bands are allowed to be worn in black, white or navy blue in colour;
- With the exception of a wristwatch, no other visible jewellery may be worn, e.g.bracelets;
- A single set of gold or silver stud earring or a sleepers (no larger than a five-cent piece) may be worn. Drop/dangling earrings are not permitted. No facial studs or additionalpiercing are allowed;
- For those students who choose to wear it, had scarves must be white and covering the tie area. If the collar is visible, a tie must be worn;
- Nails should be clean and trimmed; no nail polish is permitted.
Special requirements for Secondary Boys:
- Boys are not permitted to wear earrings and/or other jewellery (except a wristwatch) to school uniform;
- All boys must be clean shaven- no beards or moustaches;
- Attention seeking hairstyles (mullet, undercut, crew cut, number zero, shaved head, layers, sparkly hair, spiky hair, etc.) are not permitted. Hairstyle should be short, simple and conservative. Hair must not touch the collar. Ears should be visible and a fringe should not touch the eyebrows. Hair must be neatly combed;
- No hair gel/spray/wax/moussemay be used.
